Director of Development Position Description
Position Overview
The Director of Development will plan, organize, and direct all MEAC’s fundraising activities, including grant writing. The role requires strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with donors.
Hours per week: 40
Starting rate: $55,000-60,000 per year
This is a remote position, requiring out-of-state travel as needed

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years or more experience in non-profit grant writing or fundraising
- Two years experience in non-profit fundraising techniques
- Understanding the benefits of midwifery care
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with donors
- Two years of project management and strategic planning experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in grant writing and fundraising
- Development related Certifications or related degrees
- Specific knowledge base in the principles, concepts, and methodology of fundraising in a higher education institution
- Understanding of the purpose of higher education accreditation
- Grant writing experience
- Experience in social media management and digital communication
- Demonstrated commitment to MEAC’s mission and values

Duties and Responsibilities
- Create fundraising and development policies and procedures to ensure MEAC’s fundraising efforts are intentional, ethical, legal, and transparent.
- Create and execute a strategic fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Identify grant opportunities and follow through with the application process, including writing grants in collaboration with the executive director.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on marketing and outreach efforts via social media and newsletters.
- Develop and grow annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs
- Develop and maintain a detailed donor/gift database and tracking system
- Implement and sustain donor recognition programs
